Seattle Police are looking for the man who threw a West Seattle mother to the ground, and tried stealing her purse. Police say the victim was attacked and robbed in the parking lot behind the Husky Deli, as she was taking her two small children to get ice cream.
Police say while the woman was fighting to hold on to her purse she was roughed up by the suspect. She suffered a broken finger in 3 places, and welts and bruises.
Jack Miller who is the owner of the Husky Deli, and Chris 'Collier who works next door at Mashiko's chased after the man who mugged the victim.
"Saw this guy knock this lady down and was grabbing her purse, so, took up after him," said Collier
Chris lost the foot race and yelled at Jack for help. "He came running right by me and Chris was screaming at me to get him," said Miller.
Jack says he jumped in his Husky Deli catering van and took off after the bad guy.
"He was driving kind of crazy. We got like 6 calls to the store saying I was like driving like a nutcase," said Miller.
Speeding through the streets of West Seattle, police say the Husky Deli Owner was able to corner the suspect in a stolen car in the 4800 block of 48th Avenue Southwest.
"He jumped a few fences and one of the guys that were living there chased him," said Miller.
Dick McCallister tried stopping the mugger in his yard, but couldn't. Although, he did the next best thing, he recovered the loot.
"She got everything back, she checked everything was in the wallet," said McCallister.
Police say the suspect only got away with $5.00 in cash. Police are now trying to track him down.
According to investigators the suspect is a white male about 20 to 30 years of age; he was last seen wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Anyone with information about the mugger should call Seattle Police.
