Pickup Truck Driver Killed In Head-on Crash With School Bus In Spanaway

No students were in the bus at the time

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says a pickup truck driver was killed Friday afternoon when the truck hit a school bus head-on in Spanaway, Wash. Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says no students were on the bus. The bus driver was shaken up but not injured.

Troyer says witnesses reported the truck had been illegally passing cars and traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the bus.

The pickup driver was pronounced dead shortly after the accident at 224th Street East and 50th Avenue.
