Lara Yamada


Lara joined Q13 FOX News in October of 2006. After nearly 15 years in the business she's bac k in the Pacific Northwest where her career began. Lara started in news "behind the scenes" at KEZI in Eugene, Oregon while she was still working her way through broadcast school at the University of Oregon. She remembers running scripts for anchors and pulling "miles of cables" for live events before eventually taking on every job in production including Director, Technical Director, Graphics Animator, Editor and Producer.

Lara worked at KITV in Honolulu , Hawaii then at KGMB. Within two years, she moved from producer, to assignment editor , to reporter and earned two Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) awards for reports on business and the economy. At ABC22 in Burlington , Vermont she traveled across New England and Montreal , Canada as an Anchor/Reporter. By 2003, Lara, her husband and their two pets ( Kayla the Cat and Maya the Basset Hound ) , packed up and drove 23 hours to Minneapolis, Minnesota for her next job as Anchor/Reporter for FOX9. She anchored several shows and helped launch FOX9's 2-hour weekend morning newscast.

In October 2006, Lara and her family hit the road again, driving to Seattle and completing their cross-country drive. Lara and her husband both love sports, the outdoors and great food---so you can see why she and her family are thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest !
