Susan West is a reporter for Q13 FOX News.
Susan was born and raised in the Seattle area, with local family roots tracing
back into the 19th century. Susan is a graduate of Mt. Rainier High School in
the South King County city of Des Moines and of the University of Washington
Her first anchor/reporter job was at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, after internships
in Kennewick and Seattle. Susan then anchored and reported at KVOS in Bellingham.
After that, Susan helped launch a 24-hour network, as one of the original 100
employees of NorthWest Cable News. She was a bureau reporter out of KREM-TV
in Spokane and then became a weekend anchor & weekday reporter in Seattle.
Following that adventure, Susan worked at KOMO and for Comcast as anchor of
its Local Edition show.
Although her heart is in covering breaking news, she does have a sense of humor
that led her to an Emmy nomination for Best Humorous Reporting. She also has
two Emmy nominations for Community Service, which she traces back to a question
she once asked her mentor - about how she could pay him back for helping her
get into broadcasting. He told Susan to do what he did for her -- help others.
As a result, Susan has dedicated much of her spare time to mentoring and hosting
fund-raising events and community service programs.
Making a difference in people's lives as a reporter and as a public speaker
at community events makes her life complete.
