In-home Oscar parties are so much fun and can be quite entertaining. So while the stars are getting ready for their big night, there is no reason for you to be left out -- bring the Oscar home! Here are my ideas for making it a star-studded event!
" Have your guests dress like their favorite stars, and give an "Academy Award" to the best costume, (Oscar-type awards can be found at your local party store or online.)
" Buy a red carpet remnant to lay at your front door or down your home entrance for your guests' arrival.
" Take their pictures as they arrive, either with a Polaroid or digital camera, so you can give it to them after the party. They will feel like stars on their arrival.
" Print off the nominee pool sheet above and give an award to the person with the most correct answers.
" Have everyone toast with their favorite drink every time someone starts to cry, gets cut off by the music, or thanks their parents.
" Have comfortable places for your guests to sit, lots of pillows, and some throw blankets.
There is no need to create a heavy meal for your guests; you can have them eat before they arrive and/or serve light hors d'oeuvres, finger foods, and desserts. Here are a few that I recommend.
The Maximum Living Walk of Fame Cookie
Supplies:
1 bag of Toll House chocolate chips
1 tube of white icing
1 small container gold cake glitter
1 small container silver cake glitter flakes
Directions: Make the Toll House chocolate chip recipe on the bag. Once the cookies have come out let them cool. Next take your icing and make a star on top of the cookie, sprinkle the star with gold cake glitter, then cover the remaining part of the cookie with the silver cake glitter flakes. These cookies are fun, beautiful and when you eat them you will feel like a star!
The Maximum Living Movie Reel Hot Fudge Sundae
Supplies:
Vanilla ice cream
Whipped cream
Maraschino cherries
Crushed nuts
Hot fudge
Black licorice laces
1 package double-stuffed Oreos
1 shaker of chocolate sprinkles
Directions:
Take a martini glass and chill it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Next, put one tablespoon of hot fudge in the bottom of the glass; add a sprinkle of crushed nuts; then 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, and drizzle hot fudge over the ice cream. Take two double-stuffed Oreos and wrap them with a black licorice lace to make it look like a 35mm movie reel. Place this on top of the ice-cream scoops. Add whipped cream around the base of the movie reel; sprinkle the chocolate sprinkles on the whipped cream; add the maraschino cherry to the side of the glass and serve.
Have lots of popcorn and have different popcorn flavorings available; you can serve this in popcorn containers available at your local party supply -- it really makes it fun.
Don't forget to walk your red carpet because tonight is your night to be a STAR!!!
