The Maximum Living Disaster Preparedness Plan
So its summertime and the last thing on your mind is how to make sure you and your family is prepared incase disaster strikes and although many people think of this only happening during fall and winter months, the fact is that a disaster can happen anytime of year. Earthquakes, floods, power outages and fires can all strike our homes in a matter of minutes and with a little preplanning you can minimize the impact it will have on your life. Below I have put a link for you that will be a great benefit for your call to action to getting prepared; I have also added a quick list of items to get started with.

Water: Keep at least 1gallon/person for 3 days

Food: At least a 3 day supply of non-perishable food

Select foods that require no refrigeration or cooking, and little or no water.

Canned meats, fruits and vegetables

Canned juices and canned or packaged soups

High energy foods, peanut butter, granola bars, beef jerky

Comfort food like hard candy

Flashlight, candles, radio, batteries, fire extinguisher

Styrofoam freezer chest: buy it now during the summer, they are hard to find

in the

Winter and Fall months

A large plastic lidded container to store items in

A change of clothes for each family member

Plastic bags, 2 rolls toilette paper and alcohol baby wipes

If you have a baby, baby diapers, food and formula

Also, a full freezer is a colder freezer, so if your freezer is not full, take

plastic zip bags and fill them with water leaving room for expansion. Leave

these in the freezer; they will keep the freezer food from defrosting as fast

while providing you with instant ice packs in case of a medical emergency or

to be used for keeping food cold in a portable cooler.

The best plan is to start planning now and to budget the process but the most

important thing is to make sure you don't use out of the emergency kit unless

it is for an emergency, and then replace the items as soon as you can. Also,

make sure to rotate the clothes so that you don't end up with sizes to small.

Click on the link below for the Washington State Emergency Management Division

it is filled with great information to help to stay organized while putting

your plan together.

Get started now to insure your life of Maximum Living and remember…

YOU CAN DO IT!!!
